Preferred Lies.
In all competitions a preferred lie may be taken, on fairways and closely mown areas (1st cut), by placing the ball no nearer the hole within 6 inches of its original position. Mark the ball just in front.
Paths.
A free drop may be taken within one club length at nearest point of relief and/or if the path interferes with playing the shot; this includes interference of the stance.
Water Sprinklers.
Should a ball land within the arc of a water sprinkler in use the ball may be moved out of the water arc to the nearest point of relief without trying to gain any advantage. For example, if in the rough then drop in the rough.
Distance Measuring Devices
May be used in all Society competitions.
Stones
In bunkers may be removed and disposed of carefully.
‘Ready’ Golf
In order to speed-up play, players are encouraged to take shots when ready (e.g. out of turn) without detriment to the etiquette of golf. In match play this may not be appropriate and should be clarified before play begins.
The above Rules apply to LGS only and players should be careful to always check the playing card or local club when playing open competitions.
