CAPTAIN’S SALVER TROPHY 2016
ANNE EXCELLENT DAY FOR OUR CAPTAIN
Happy with her first drive... Captain Anne Edwards celebrates with Oliva Nova’s golf director Daniel Asís Boyer
SUPPORT from members of her home club La Sella boosted the number of Levante members and guests to 55 celebrating Anne Edwards’ Captain’s Day at Oliva Nova.
This excellent number reflected Anne’s popularity during another successful year for the society.
A wide range of sponsored prizes added a competitive element to what is traditionally a fun day when the day’s main prize, the Captain’s Salver, is up for grabs in a pairs better-ball format.
Pairs are drawn from below and above the average handicap of all players and the final scores revealed only three points separated the top four pairs.
This year’s winners were Kevin Waterland and Les Vine who returned 44 points, one more than Richard Vass and Neville Allen. In third and fourth positions were David Lawson and last year’s winner Roger Jennings, and Mike Cuerden and Dick Temperton – both pairs finishing with 41 points.
Generous sponsorship ensured that there were prizes for the top seven pairs.
In fifth spot were Peter Jenkins and Jim Thomas with 40 points, the same total as sixth-placed Peter Ketteringham and Alan Simpson, with Brian Norbury and Dave Geeson’s 39 points taking seventh position.
More than 50 players and guests stayed for lunch to complete a memorable day for Anne, her fellow members and friends.
