The Society was established in 1993 with the objective of:
‘fostering the golf interests of it’s members by arranging a calendar of fixtures
throughout the year that shall be open to all players’.
Members are drawn mainly from the northern Costa Blanca of Spain and travel to various local courses in the Valencia to Alicante region. Meetings are held on a Friday, every fortnight, and reduced green fees are negotiated by the Society on behalf of members.
Players are eligible to become members of the Society on submission of 4 (four) handicap cards. These must be obtained whilst playing on local courses, one of which must be with a Committee Member and equal to 28 handicap, and upon payment of a subscription as fixed by the Committee. Thereafter, an annual subscription is paid as decided by members at an Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The standards of etiquette and rules of golf as determined by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews hold good, together with such Society rules issued from time to time. The European Golf Association (amended edition, 1 January 2007, handicap system has been adopted for all players handicaps. Records are maintained on a computer system.
A formal Constitution, approved by the membership, is available to members of the Society in either English or Spanish from the Secretary.
